Here are some frequently asked questions for Canastas Verdes! If you do not see your question, feel free to contact us directly!

How did Canastas Verdes start?

It was an already existing group of passionate women putting organic farming methods into practice, partnering with long term expats with a similar vision bridging wisdom and tools from one side to the other.

Where are they grown?

All the vegetables are grown locally in Urubamba and Yucay.

How do you know that it is really organic?

We have a certified permaculturist that has visited each farm and can verify that they are all organic. We also have ongoing check-in’s and an open door policy with the farmers.

Who grows the vegetables?

The six ladies of Canastas Verdes each have their own farm that they care for and cultivate the organic vegetables that come in the canastas verdes.

How do I order?

Can I get weekly orders?

Yes, when you fill out the order form you can specify that you want a weekly order and then we will contact you via e-mail or Facebook to confirm.

How do I cancel my weekly order?

Please reach out to the Canastas Verdes Facebook within 24 hours before pickup time and we will make sure we send a confirmation that it was cancelled.

Do you receive a basket?

No, a basket is not included. The vegetables come in a bag that can be brought back the following week to be reused again.

When do I need to order my basket by?

Order your baskets by Wednesday evening for delivery on Saturday for the Calca, Huaran, Pisac, and Cusco locations every week. Urubamba pick up is available at the market on Friday’s.

What is the price for the different baskets?

The regular basket is 30/soles.

The super basket is 50/soles.

What will I receive in my regular basket?

A regular basket is 30/soles and equates to 5kg of vegetables. Generally, you will receive chard, kale, one head of lettuce, one portion of spinach, one portion of arugula, one bunch of carrots, one bunch of radishes, one zucchini, one broccoli or cauliflower, one bunch of onions, one bunch of beets, one leek, one celery, and one portion of tomatoes.

*This is an idea as the vegetables will change due to availability and season.

What will I receive in my super basket?

A super basket is 50/soles and equates to 8kg of vegetables. generally you will receive two bunches of chard (red and green), two bunches of kale (red and green), one head of lettuce, one bunch of radishes, two bunches of carrots, one bunch of beets, one bunch of onions, one leek, one celery, two portions of spinach, two portions of arugula, one portion of tomatoes, two zucchini, one broccoli, one cauliflower, one bunch of mixed herbs, and one portion of lemons.

Can I get special requests?

Yes, we do take special requests depending on vegetable availability.

Do you sell seeds?

We do not sell seeds at this time, but we have plans to share with the community.

When do I pick up?

Urubamba-Friday-Main Market Stand: 10am-12pm

Pisac-Saturday-Ulrikes, Calle Pardo 613: 2pm-4pm

Cusco-Saturday-Healing House, San Blas: 2pm-4pm

Calca-Saturday-Kawsaytika, Calca Plaza: 11am-12pm

Huaran-Saturday-Viva Peru: 11:30am-12:30pm


How do I pay?

You will pay at the pickup location after picking up your basket. Please bring exact amount of soles because the women may not have change for larger bills.

*We are working on a preorder monthly payment system with BCP and Paypal.

Where are you located in the Market in Urubamba?

In the back of the market, near the meat. The stands are labeled “Eco-Organic Vegetables”.
